All over the fashion world, the trend of color blocking has erupted. In my opinion, this concept is best described as “perfectly mismatching.” You might think it would be easy to throw together completely different colors, but not so quickly… Find the perfect mismatch can be rather challenging, so here is a little help.
Most of the cutest color blocking outfits consist of complementary colors. For example, red and blue are almost on opposite ends of the color wheel; this makes them somewhat complements of one another. Have you ever noticed some of your favorite sports teams or logos consist of complementary colors. Red and green are extremely popular around Christmas and they are indeed complements of each other. Purple and green, as well as purple and yellow, complement one another extremely well. However, orange and yellow are exactly side by side on the color wheel. This keeps them from being complements of each other, but they still look fabulous as seen above. This proves not all color blocking looks contain exactly opposite colors. All of the individual pieces from above could be mixed with one another. Take the yellow pants and match the purple or the very first blouse with the green skirt or red shorts. The possibilities are endless.
I love the pastel color scheme in the photo above.
Here’s an example of the red and green working side by side. Love love love.
