New Yorkers come in all shapes and sizes, and the city ranks among the Top 10 Most Diverse Cities in the US. Anyone who’s ever been to the Big Apple can attest to the range of different people and personalities that populate it, and every visit to New York City always has something new in store.
This vast range of interests is probably the reason why New Yorkers have been able to not just embrace an old game like bingo, but even make it their own. For the most part, bingo is known to be the boring old game that people play in bingo halls, but there’s been a worldwide movement to make it more contemporary. In the UK, where the online bingo market is making upwards of $557 million, Gala Bingo has reported an 18% increase in total income annually. But it isn’t just online bingo that’s become popular – London also gave birth to a radical kind of bingo called Rebel Bingo, a game that’s more of a rave than anything.
If London has Rebel Bingo, New York has its very own Fashion Week Bingo. It’s basically a game for attendees who want to have a little bit of bingo fun while watching the prestigious New York Fashion Week, which is held every February and September of every year, generally lasting 7 – 9 days. Playing the game is simple. All attendees need to do is to place an X over every item on their card that they encounter at the event. If you’re attending the event with a group of friends, this game could be really fun! Some of the things included in the card that can be crossed out are “Someone with pastel ombre hair,” “an outrageously fashionable child,” and “iPad used as a camera.” The items on the card can be changed to something else, and the image above merely serves as a template. The first one who completes a bingo pattern, of course, wins. It’d be more fun if you and your friends will decide a prize for the winner!
The New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is one of the 4 major fashion weeks in the world, collectively known as the Big 4 alongside the major events in London, Milan, and Paris. On September 10 – 17 2015, IMG, the company that manages NYFW, moved the event downtown into two unique spaces: The Skylight Clarkson Square and Skylight at Moynihan Station. The recently-concluded event featured collections from renowned designers including Anna Sui, Derek Lam, Greg Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Mara Hoffman, Nicole Miller, and Erin Fetherston. This year’s NYFW was special for IMG because it marked the unveiling of its new brand identity and digital home for the event’s properties. The new identity was created in order to help the fashion industry easily identify programs that are exclusive to IMG.
